Blue Point Juniper Topiary – Pre-Shaped 1-Ball & 2-Ball Formal Evergreen

Blue Point Juniper Topiary – Instant Formal Elegance, Zero Sculpting Required

Topiary takes years of patient shearing to achieve — unless you start with a Blue Point Juniper Topiary. Already professionally shaped into a classic 1-ball or 2-ball form, these topiaries arrive ready to display, bringing instant formal structure and year-round silvery-blue color to entryways, patios, courtyards, and garden beds without the years of work traditional topiary requires.

Blue Point Juniper is one of the finest topiary subjects available — naturally dense, drought-tolerant, disease-resistant, and cold-hardy to Zone 4. Its silvery blue-green foliage holds its color through all four seasons, making it a reliable, low-maintenance statement plant for any formal or contemporary landscape.

Why You’ll Love the Blue Point Juniper Topiary

  • Professionally Pre-Shaped: Arrives already sculpted into a classic ball-on-stem topiary form — no years of shearing required to achieve the look
  • Striking Silvery Blue-Green Foliage: Dense, fine-textured needles with a distinctive silvery blue-green color that holds beautifully through all four seasons
  • Exceptional Cold Hardiness: Hardy to Zone 4 — one of the most cold-tolerant topiary junipers available, thriving where boxwood and other formal evergreens struggle
  • Drought-Tolerant: Once established, highly drought-tolerant — far more forgiving of dry conditions than boxwood or yew topiaries
  • Disease & Pest Resistant: Naturally resistant to most common evergreen diseases and pests — a low-maintenance alternative to boxwood, which is increasingly susceptible to boxwood blight
  • Container-Friendly: Thrives in decorative pots and planters — ideal for flanking entryways, framing doorways, and anchoring patio arrangements
  • Symmetrical Pairs: Available in a 2-Pack for perfectly matched entryway flanking — the classic formal garden statement

Choosing Your Topiary Style

  • 1 Gallon (1-Ball Topiary): A single sphere on a clear stem — clean, classic, and versatile. Perfect for containers, smaller spaces, and tabletop or low-profile displays. Available as a single or 2-Pack for matched pairs
  • 2 Gallon (2-Ball Topiary): Two spheres stacked on a single stem — more dramatic and architectural. Ideal for flanking entryways, framing gates, and making a bold statement in larger containers or garden beds
  • 5 Gallon (2-Ball Topiary): Our largest and most impressive size — a substantial, fully established 2-ball topiary that makes an immediate, commanding impact. Best for grand entryways, large planters, and formal garden focal points

Growing Zones & Care Guide

  • USDA Hardiness Zones: Zones 4–9. Blue Point Juniper is one of the most widely adaptable and cold-hardy topiary subjects available — thriving across an enormous range of climates.
  • Sunlight: Full sun — 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for best density, color, and form. Tolerates partial shade but with reduced density and a looser form that requires more frequent shearing to maintain.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, Blue Point Juniper is highly drought-tolerant. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which is the most common cause of juniper decline.
  • Container Care: In containers, water more frequently — pots dry out faster than in-ground plantings. Use a well-draining potting mix and ensure containers have adequate drainage holes. In Zone 4–5, move containers to a sheltered location (unheated garage or shed) for winter to protect roots from freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Soil: Well-draining soil is essential. Adaptable to sandy, loamy, and clay soils as long as drainage is good. Prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.5).
  • Fertilizing: Light feeding with a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Avoid excess nitrogen, which promotes soft, loose growth that is harder to maintain in topiary form.
  • Shearing to Maintain Form: Lightly shear once or twice per year — in late spring after new growth hardens, and optionally again in late summer. Use sharp hand shears for clean cuts. Trim only into green growth — avoid cutting back into bare interior wood, which does not regenerate.
  • Mature Size: Blue Point Juniper naturally grows to 10–12 ft. tall and 3–4 ft. wide in an upright, dense form. In topiary form, regular shearing keeps it at the desired size indefinitely.

Pair It With Another Architectural Juniper

For a more dramatic, sculptural statement in larger landscapes, our Hollywood Juniper Tree offers a striking twisted, irregular form — a bold architectural contrast to the Blue Point’s formal symmetry. Together, they create a dynamic, layered evergreen composition for contemporary and Japanese-inspired garden designs.

Professionally shaped, instantly beautiful, and built to last for decades — the Blue Point Juniper Topiary is the most elegant low-maintenance statement plant you can add to any formal garden or entryway.
