The Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis) is one of the most rewarding plants you can grow — equally at home in a terracotta pot on a sunny patio or anchoring a formal herb garden. Its glossy, aromatic leaves are the same ones that have flavored Mediterranean kitchens for centuries, and now they can flavor yours.
Plant in a location with good drainage and at least 6 hours of sun. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots, then reduce frequency — Bay Laurel prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Fertilize lightly in spring. Prune in late spring or early summer to shape and encourage bushy growth.
